Velma Gallant from WelcomeChanges.com invited me to be the guest speaker on an added value bonus call for here readers, subscribers and fans. This episode is the conference call that resulted from our experience.
Our conversation centered around audio strategies and zeroed in on how easy creating audio content really is (the mechanical part). Lots of great questions and good company to enjoy and laugh with.
Velma, being the Abundant "being human" she is, threw down a challenge I could not resist....
The challenge was to take the recording she made on her Live Office conferencing service, create a Podcast ready audio and publish the edited and enhanced audio on the Liquid Life Success Show by 5 p.m. EST (US) on Thursday, February 22, 2007. (About a 17 hour time frame.)
"Sure" I said, "No problem!"
Why? Because publishing an audio Podcast is point and click simple. Even with a busy client schedule and other responsibilities the mission is accomplished. (Note to self: next time place large cash wager on a sure thing.)
Here are the tools:
Live Office - This is a free conferencing service that gives and keeps on giving. Keep the cash your spending on any other conferencing service because Live Office allows you to record and access your recording as a down loadable mp3 at zero cost.
ODEO - A free web based audio community providing a comprehensive audio Podcast directory and the resources to create your own audio Podcasts. ODEO is all web based (no software to download) and totally free.
Audacity - A software download for a free audio recording and editing tool. By also downloading the LAME encoder (instructions available at the Audacity site), you can turn almost any audio format into a compressed mp3 file for your audio Podcast, CD, or flash player. Check out the Audacity tutorials and the Audacity forum for questions and answers about this amazing tool.
Levelator - Access to a nifty tool from Gigavox that automatically levels the voices on your mp3 recordings. Point and click simple and very, very free.
Total time from un-edited audio download to Podcast publishing here on the blog? 3 hours and 20 minutes. Actual hands on time is 1 hour and 45 minutes, the computer does the rest.
Please note this is all done using no cost, easily available tools and a little bit of time and patience. Very cool.
